250,000 Visits in Deer Park!
Deer Park Schools, located about 40 miles east of New York City, started
using eBoard in 2000. They chose eBoard after first trying a more complicated
service that required a great deal of hands on management by their technical
staff. Today Deer Park Schools offer eBoard to their educators as an optional
tool they can use to increase communication between teachers, parents and
students. eBoard usage since they launched has steadily grown, and during
the 2003-2004 school year this district of six schools received more than
250,000 visits to their teacher eBoards!
Mahoning County Career and Technical Center
JoAnn writes "As the technology integration specialist for our school,
eBoard is a lifesaver. I use eBoard to post all of our in-services,
neat teacher web sites for each department in our school, templates that
teachers may want to use, upcoming videoconferences and pictures of these
conferences, and different collaboration Internet projects for different
areas of instruction. I have even created a business card that was given
to all staff with the eBoard URL and my log on and a picture of my eBoard.
The eBoard is DEFINITELY A TIMESAVER for me and my staff; it works so much
better than emailing everything. I am also proud to say that after having
an in-service on eBoard, many teachers now have an eBoard, and we hope to
have more onboard with eBoard in the next school year."

Mary writes to let us know that "eBoard is awesome! It allows my parents
and students to keep abreast of what is happening in class at all time. It
is easy to use and only takes a few minutes of my time each week to keep
it up to date. It is one of the best tools that has been developed for
education. I use my eBoard to provide assignments, projects, rubrics, maps,
worksheets, powerpoints, pictures of student projects, and so much more. I'm
fairly technical and have my own webpage but I prefer eBoard because it is
faster and easier to use."

Success at Episcopal High School of Jacksonville
Episcopal High School of Jacksonville has used eBoard since the 2001-2002
school year. Today, eBoard is a part of the daily routine for teachers,
parents and students. Every teacher has an eBoard, and is required to keep
up to date information, including homework assignments, the course syllabus,
and project information and resources, on their eBoard. On the average day,
the eBoards of their 90 faculty members see more than 1,000 visits for
parents and students.
Clear Instructions and Easy to Use
Scott from Oklahoma writes "I appreciate the ease and set-up and clarity
of the instructions on eboard. I am taking a distance learning class and I
chose to set up a learning site as my project. For weeks, I struggled with
'product B*'--- the software my school uses --- getting nowhere and with no
clear way to communicate with someone at 'product B' who could help me. My
plaintive e-mail to 'product B' land went unanswered. My instructor suggested
your site as an easier alternative. It has been so much easier to get set
up and get on with my project. Good job on the design and I appreciate your
thoughtfulness about a new user can find his/her way."

It Saved So Much Time
Brenda, an eight grade teacher, writes "I love using eboard. I
was able to post all my lesson plans on the site so students (and parents)
would know if homework was assigned. I also used the site to post extra
credit projects, special programming instructions, helpful tutorial sites,
and basic classroom expectations. I found eBoard to be extremely easy to
use and always up and working. I had no trouble at all using the site for
the entire school year. It saved so much time. I was often able to say to
my students 'you can get that information from my website.'"
Increasing Efficiency in Newark!
Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ have used eBoard for 3 years as a
communication tool for the technology coordinators in each of their 76
buildings. Each technology coordinator has their own eBoard where they post
helpful technical, computer and Internet related information for the staff
in their building. The technology coordinators can quickly and easily post
message about computer lab hours, virus alerts, and links to helpful Internet
resources for their teachers. Additionally, they post "how to" materials
for software such as Microsoft Word and Powerpoint for their staff, problem
based learning activities and success stories from other teachers. Now that
teachers in each building know there is a single place they can go for many
of their technical needs, the tech coordinators have found that they get
less email and fewer phone calls from teachers.
Posting Assigments for Students and Parents
Geraldine from Palm Beach, Florida writes "I use the eboard to post all
my class notes, lessons, worksheets (I have them on my school computer
and just load them onto the eboard), etc. so that students can find their
assignment in case they are absent or lose it, etc. I also have a 'message
board' where students can ask questions and receive answers.
"The eboard is a tremendous help for both students and parents. On any
given day a parent can find out what his/her child is to do. I leave the
assignments up for the duration of a unit so that parents can find what make
up work a student needs. It saves me tremendous time in that parents know
to go there and do not call me constantly."
Sharing Information
Kathleen from Massachusetts writes "I am an 8th grade English classroom
teacher. I also have a homeroom. I use my eboard for weekly schedules, unit
information, websites, parent information, calendars for school functions
and grade postings, homeroom news, and homeroom units.
"Parents utilize the eboard to communicate with me via email, check
homework, school news and events, and get classroom unit information and
requirements. Students use the eboard to communicate with me via email,
download assignments sheets and rubrics, get homework and missed work when
absent, and get additional websites and other information pertinent to
current units of study."
Every Year a New Way
Jan from Redmond, Washington writes "I love eBoard!! My students
know how to access eBoard from the first day of school because we have an
interdisciplinary team and all of us use eBoard. I put each day's activities
up right before I leave school so that if a student is absent, if a student
has forgotten what we did, or if a parent wants to check what we did that day
it will be current. Additionally, I attach worksheets, links to websites,
and other documents of importance. When we use the computer lab and I want
students to go to a particular website, rather than have them perform a
search where they might wind up someplace inappropriate, I have them go to
my eBoard where I have the website url and all they have to do is click on
it. Works great! Next year I will use the newest where I can create a tab
for permanent documents such as classroom rules, procedures, etc. Every year
I learn a new way to use eBoard."
